ART – 5 Photographs by Patrice Helmar

ART

By Audrey Deng

I depict life as I see it and people as they are. I don’t try to contrive what isn’t, but simply reveal and preserve what is. Photographs of coupling, youth, sexuality, class, & addiction form the locus of my work.

Patrice Helmar is a fifth generation Alaskan, born and raised in Juneau. Patrice’s work has most recently appeared as a finalist in the New York Photo Festival, and is a part of the Juneau City Museum collection. Her work is currently on display at the Alaska Biennial at the Anchorage Museum. Patrice is a 2nd year MFA student in the Columbia University Visual Arts program. She is addicted to Instagram.
